Hailing from the sunny land of Kazakhstan, now based in Saint Petersburg, Russia, musician and producer Alexey Fuifanov, better known as Command Strange, and has already become a household name for all lovers of the musical side of drum and bass. Having got acquainted with jungle in the tender age of 7 it didn’t take a while for him to get into production. Developing and improving his sound and being only 16 years old Command Strange released his first tunes. Sweet melodic productions full of positive vibes equipped by beautiful soul, jazzy and funky samples quickly gained support from scene’s heavyweights like LTJ Bukem, Marky, Goldie, Bryan G, JJ Frost, London Electricity, Hype, Fabio & Grooverider, Crissy Criss, Friction, Artificial Intelligence, Netsky, EZ Rollers, Bailey and others with regular airplay on BBC RADIO 1 and across plenty of web radio stations.
Gaining notoriety from successful singles on labels such as ‘Have-A-Break’ and ‘Fokuz’ – at the beginning of 2010 Command Strange unsurprisingly was offered an album deal for Fokuz. In November 2010 the ‘Soul Booster’ LP (described by Kmag) as “some of the lushest beats you can imagine” saw the light of day.
Alexey continues to experiment with his sound, somewhat deviating from the usual tasty liquid funk grooves and bringing his vision of jump up, techy and new school areas that were published in late 2011, on his second solo album entitled “Episode 91″, on the same Fokuz Recordings and vinyl singles on Grid, All Sorts and Integral Records.
Attracting the attention of V Recordings boss Bryan Gee, the Russian producer has also worked with Artificial Intelligence (AI). A partnership which has seen both sides flourish, with the guys releasing the huge vocal number ‘Won’t Say Goodbye’ featuring Mc Tali and solo single ‘Brand New Style’ featuring MC Fats on V Recordings, as well as the massive, rolling single with ‘Mad One’ and ‘Broken Grounds’ ft. Jamakabi on Goldie’s Metalheadz label. He also went solo on the ‘Dismissed EP’ released on V Recordings in 2014 and ‘Visions EP’ released on Liquid V in 2015, Command Strange’s had a number of releases on both Hospital Records and Med School, featuring twice on the “Hospitality” compilation series and Med School’s ’New Blood’ album. This cemented Command Strange’s position as one of the most promising and versatile producers in the scene. Having now released his music on Metalheadz, V Recordings, Liquid V, Med School, Hospital, Fokuz, Innerground, Horizons Music, Good Looking, Chronic, Grid, Celsius, Integral, Allsorts, Rubik, Have-A-Break, Citrus & Basswerk, Command Strange is set for big things in 2016.
